Stephanie Ray is the Associate Dean of Students/Director of Diversity Programs at Georgia Tech. While at Georgia Tech, Dean Ray helped to initiate Women's Awareness Week, which led to the creation of the Women's Resource Center and organized Georgia Tech's National Coalition Building Institute Diversity Training Team. Ray also created Disability and Diversity Week and Religious Awareness Week. Stephanie also advises the Diversity Forum and is the advisor to the newly created Speech and Debate Team. She is a graduate of Western Kentucky University, where she majored in history and speech communication. She obtained a masters degree in Student Personnel Services in Higher Education from the same institution.
Stephanie has received several awards including, Outstanding Young Woman of America (1997), Vice President for Student Affairs Citation for Outstanding Professional Staff in the Division (1994), Outstanding New Professional of the Georgia College Personnel Association (1992), 2 Black Student Alliance/NAACP Distinguished Faculty/Staff Awards (1995 and 1996), the NAACP Multicultural Award (1997), Graduate Student Senate Mentor of the Year (2003), and OMED Mentor Award (2003).
Professionally, Ms. Ray is a member of the Southern Association for College Student Affairs and is a past-president of the Georgia College Personnel Association. She also served two consecutive terms as the chair for the Diversity Issues Committee for the Southern Association for College Student Affairs. Ms. Ray is also active in the American College Personnel Association where she served as a member of the Core Council on Members Services and Issues. She is an active member of the National Coalition Building Institute of Atlanta and the Georgia Tech Toastmasters Club. Stephanie is known regionally for diversity consulting, presenting workshops, and delivering keynote addresses.
