Yassin Watson

Industrial and Systems Engineering

Yassin Watson is a fourth-year student from Atlanta and Suwanee, Georgia who is majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering and minoring in Social Justice. His hobbies include learning, exercising, and cooking. Over the years, he has been involved with GT Diversity Ambassadors, GT Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations, GT Veggie Jackets, GT College of Engineering Champions, GT Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, and GT Association for Supply Chain Management. His favorite experience amongst them has been the Diversity Ambassador program because it presents an opportunity to learn more about diversity and inclusion in a small group setting with other students who are endlessly passionate about social equity. The program ensures student familiarity with all of the diverse resources available on campus. Above all, it allows students, like Yassin, the chance to gain friendships that will undoubtedly last a lifetime. One of his favorite quotes by Max de Pree is “We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity. We need to give each other space so that we may both give and receive such beautiful things as ideas, openness, dignity, joy, healing, and inclusion.”
